Unveiling The Holy Ghost; Mystery of the Ruach Ha- Kodesh.

The term Holy Spirit appears forty times in Acts, five times in Matthew, four in Mark, thirteen in Luke, three in John, sixteen in Paul’s epistles, five in Hebrews, two in Peter’s epistles, and is not alluded to in John’s three small epistles or in Revelation.

Just by a way of introduction, this article seeks to enlighten the believer on His greatest asset yet the most least utilized of the Godhead. Funny enough, the Holy Ghost who is the life of God Himself is the same life of the believer.

There is one God, and His eternal breath is His Spirit, which is the breath of the holy place and manifests as the Spirit of God. God is both light and love and in the beginning He separated the light and love into a manifestation called the word. We discover both the light of the gospel and the love of God revealed in Christ- the living word.

Anytime you mention the Holy Ghost the concept of trinity may come into light, nevertheless apart from the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit (used interchangeably), God cannot give us any more. All what the believer is and can be is in Him. There is no limit to His power and John attested to that fact when he said;

For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him- John 3:34

The Holy Ghost is the very life force in the believer, the essence of the Christian faith. This is to say the conception of Christ occurred when the Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary and the seed of God’s word was implanted within her.

But who is the Holy Ghost In person, this personality isn’t just a force, when Christ said that, He that has seen me has seen the Father, He attested to the fact that all that the Father is in essence and character, He Christ also is. It is for the same reason, John wrote in his gospel that;

No man hath seen God at any time; yet the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. (John 1:18).

The Son made the Father known, ultimately the son was and is the exact representation of His person and being, upholding all things by the word of His power. But How about the Holy Ghost, the Ruach Ha-Kodesh???

In the Old Testament Hebrew, the phrase Ruach ha- Kodesh is the term used for “Holy Spirit.” The Word Ruach is a word translated several ways in the English Bible, such as “spirit, “breath'” and “wind.” On the other hand the word ha is used as the word the, in Hebrew, and the word Kodesh refers to “holy” and holiness.

In English we say spirit, in Greek the word is pneuma, and the Hebrew is Kodesh. In Scripture there are three significant titles used for Ruach ha- Kodesh; the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the Lord, and the Spirit of God.

The Holy Spirit again is the atmosphere of heaven, all you will experience in heaven you can experience in this life, if you give Him Place in your life. Again the Holy Spirit is actually Jesus unlimited (that is Jesus everywhere).

Now, why we saying this is seen in the book of John.

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (John 14:17).

Take notice of two things;

1. Ye know Him. (They knew Jesus, only then).

2. He dwelleth with you. ( At that time, It was only Jesus who was with them, the Holy Spirit had not yet come, because Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Let’s take note also, that the Holy Spirit is also called the Spirit Of Christ. Jesus left us with the ministry of the Holy Spirit but also the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to continue the ministry of Jesus, because He doesn’t testify of Himself but of the son. He is the Allos- Parakletos (Another helper).

There are two Greek words which to us have similar meanings and are often both translated as ‘another’ but there is a subtle difference between them which is important, especially when speaking of the Holy Spirit here.

The 2 words are:

a) ‘allos’ – which speaks of ‘another one but of the same sort / kind’

b) ‘heteros’ – which speaks of ‘another of a different sort / kind’

Jesus is saying that the Holy Spirit is another of the exact same kind as me: He’ll be to you what I have been to you! Jesus was saying that The Holy Spirit will be in your life everything He was to the disciples while on this earth, however it will be better for you because He will be in you and with you at all times.

Permit me to say now, that The Holy Spirit now can take you to dimensions in God where Jesus in the flesh couldn’t take His disciples. We do not lose out by Jesus physical departure, rather we gain with the presence of the Holy Spirit with and in us now. The fact that Jesus uses the word ‘another’ means that He is sending One like Himself – a personality.

On the earth, Jesus was restricted to a body. He could only be in one place at a time. The Holy Spirit can be in ALL believers at the same time.

The Amplified Bible brings out what we call ’the seven fold meaning’ of this word Parakletos used in John 14:16

Comforter, Counsellor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby’

However one important thing to note is this;

The ministry of the Holy Spirit is not to the unbeliever but to the believer; because He cannot dwell in anyone whose heart has not been made right with the Lord however He convicts the world of sin.

If you want to know anything about the ministry of the Holy Spirit l, the first thing to know is the still small voice, before you start to think of visions and dreams. He is ever present with you, on the inside as an inward monitor yet many people have ignored Him and don’t even honor him as God but actually He is God Almighty.

Another thing that we have to note is, the Holy Spirit is not a reward but a gift, Bible says we ourselves have the first fruits of the Spirit; that is to mean;

The Holy Spirit gives us a sample of the life to come—a taste of the love of God, a glimpse of the glory of Christ, a beginning of the new life that will be ours forever.. Hallelujah!

Lets relate to the Holy Spirit just as the disciples related to Jesus. We can learn about our relationship with the Holy Spirit by examining Jesus’ relationship with His disciples. The Holy Spirit is a Person and not just a force or ‘thing’ so let’s reverence him, if we want to see Him.

The Holy Spirit now for the believer It’s like having your own personal Jesus IN YOU!

This is therefore better than what the disciples had! We have moment by moment access to the Holy Spirit who lives in us.

Acknowledge Him and reverence Him, He is much closer to you than you imagined.
