The Secret Of Prayer In Weary Times

Even the youth shall faint and grow weary. There comes a time in the Christian journey where fatigue can set in regardless of the believer’s state of maturity.

Can I say that in the Christian walk weariness may be inevitable but strength can be received day to day to take you through this pilgrimage, as a light that shines in a dark place.

They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God (Psalm 84:7). In fellowship, all who are weary are strengthened with might by the Lord, it is for this same reason that the writer of Hebrews admonished us to never forsake the gathering of the saints as some are in the habit of doing.

Weariness can suck the life out of you, where you desire nothing of the Lord or where you feel empty in your walk with the Lord. In these seemingly contradictory circumstances, run to God and lay before Him in His presence and pray.

Yes! Pray, but in these times prayer may be virtually impossible because the desire to pray may be absent. This is where I want to introduce to us what I call ;The Secret Of Prayer In Weary Times.

Praying in weary times is birth out of an understanding of what prayer truly means. If that understanding is missing, your prayers may be of no effect.

First of all, understand that in weary times the Lord draws much more closer than you can imagine, actually the Lord is always with us, because He never leaves us nor will He forsake us (Hebrews 13:6).

Again in this kind of prayer you don’t approach God in pretense, be sincere because actually before you would have opened your mouth the Lord knows your plea and cry. For nothing is hidden before His sight; but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

So then, you don’t go to God and approach Him as a stranger or in fear. This is the mistake most people do, they are bothered in their hearts, they don’t understand something and they go and isolate themselves.

Then in the first few minutes of prayer they think before the Lord can get to know their plea they need to rise to a higher level in the Spirit, before God can know their plea.

This is a wrong understanding of the relationship we have been called unto by the Father, in the first place such a prayer doesn’t even call for isolation, you can talk to God anywhere because He is in you and is not limited to a geographical location.

The truth is in prayer, God doesn’t become any more God than He was in the beginning than the end.

Imagine you go to your Father and you want to tell him something, your Father knowing well that you are weak and frustrated would want to sympathize with you, so perhaps He will just love to hear your voice on whatever be the issue.

However, here is the case you go to Him and you behave as a stranger, not telling him your problem which he already knows, but rather you start shouting at your loving Father. At this point, he may marvel at you and may wonder if this is the same child he has lived with all his life.

That is not to rubbish praying loudly and groaning but remember even groaning comes by the Spirit not by your own will but as you press on in prayer, the Spirit gives you that enablement.

What I want to put across is, in prayer you shouldn’t only look for the feeling of the sense of the Spirit, but understanding whom you have come to, that is the most important thing.

Hebrews 4:15-16 KJV

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. …

In these times, remember you are coming to a Father who loves and cares about you. So how do you present your plea; Be sincere, don’t hide your feelings, pour out your heart to Him. Like you are talking to your father or someone you trust. At this time you enter into another level of prayer I call the Father- son love affair, where even your complains and worries become prayer (we see this kind of prayers with Moses and David).

At this level, you can spend so many hours in prayer without knowing.

Note, the secret place of prayer is a place of intimacy and in these times instead of thinking to ourselves God wants us conversing with Him.

This kind of exercise can be cultivated in our daily walk with him where prayer becomes a lifestyle. We talk out everything with the Father whether good or bad, it is what brother Lawrence called practicing the presence of God.

In this way whether you are eating, going about your normal housekeeping activities or working on your job or career, you bring God into the picture and it is prayer because prayer is a communication.

When this is maintained over a period of time you activate the manifest presence of God, where your presence becomes His presence and where His thoughts becomes your thoughts.

Note, at the beginning it may not make sense, and it may seem like you are talking to yourself but even in these times there is a strong sense of peace around you.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee (Isaiah 26:3). This kind of prayer takes the burden of you, there is a sense of refreshing, because the Lord’s presence now becomes the atmosphere you live in.

Acts 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

Again this kind of prayer is sustained on the wheels of faith, for he that cometh to God must believe that He is regardless of whether you can see Him or not.

The Lord wants us talking to Him always, He hears even the silence whisper of our heart. That is why He tells us not to worry, not to be anxious about anything, but rather by prayer we should make our request known to Him and His peace that surppasseth all understanding shall garrison our hearts and minds.

When worry and anxiety takes hold of you, pray this kind of prayer; engage in the Father- son love affair and the chief end of this prayer is the emergence of peace in the soul, that sense of warmth gushing out as rivers of living water in your innermost being tells you that your prayer has been answered.

Here, you experience this peace in your soul where you cannot explain. The Lord attends to this prayer, He loves it when we cast all of our care on Him, literally like throwing something on someone.

Talk to the Lord as a friend talks to a friend, for there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother and this friend cares for you watchfully and affectionately.

He is in you and He is called the

H-O-L-Y G-H-O-S-T. If you haven’t been talking to Him start now, He is waiting. 💥
