Come To An Understanding
In the parable of the sower, Jesus explained in Matthew 13:19 that the word that fell on the way side meant that the people who heard it were void of understanding.
This opened the door for the enemy to steal the word that was sown in the heart and he was very fast about it. See Satan’s reaction in Mark 4:15 (KJV).
And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
The statement Satan cometh immediately appears only here in the whole Bible. This suggest that the devil doesn’t waste a dime to quickly take the word sown out of the heart of man, when one lacks understanding.
But again we can see here that understanding is also a product of time, so let us endeavor to stay longer in the word of God for treasures don’t lie on the surface.
He knows how dangerous that is; because if the word remains in the heart and one gains understanding it builds the very life of God in him. Here, though the believer is already born of the word, he continues to feed on that life and becomes more like His master.
It is for this same reason that Apostle Paul prayed a prayer that the eyes of our understanding be enlightened; this prayer is very key to pray in our times.
Seek to read the word of God, yearn to hear the word of God but don’t just read scripture to add to your knowledge.
Could it be that perhaps you have been reading the scriptures but you haven’t touched the Spirit of the word which is the very life of God??
For knowledge without light does no good to you and light only comes from understanding, because behind the letter is the Spirit for all scripture is God-breathed.
NB: The letter alone will kill you; seek for understanding for it brings forth life and understanding is a product of quality time spent in the word coupled with meditation and always remember that the Holy Spirit is there to guide you into all truth.
He is the Spirit of truth and the very author of the Bible; no one can teach you more than He does.
