Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain (Psalm 127:1).
So many things in life can cause us to worry and often time the believer can be caught in a web of unrest. However this burden is unnecessary because we are not the author of our lives and often times we don’t see the bigger picture.
God’s sovereign will is perfect, bringing the highest glory to God and the greatest good to man.
For the steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way (Psalm 37:23).
But often times the desires of this life and the hunger for success can become idols in our hearts and one will do all He can to get what He wants and these things tend to take away the place of God in our hearts; But we forget that by Strength shall no man prevail.
Give God His proper place and See Him work mightily in your situation.
It is sad that people now seek the blessings of the Lord over the Lord who blesses.
The Lord desires to bless us but if we desire the blessings more than Him, we have deviated from the path of life.
This is what Jesus addressed in the sermon of the mount; when He said; For after all these things do the Gentiles seek: for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things (Matthew 6:32).
So here is the good news; God sympathizes with us and knows we need them. What do you need and what are you trying to keep?is it a job; or is it a relationship; is it marriage or is it a promotion or better still is it something you have so much cherished over the years??
Jesus gives us the answer; But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33).
It is people who don’t know God and the way he works that fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works.
You know that He is a loving Father and that there is no good thing that He will withhold from them that walk uprightly.
Most at times He gives us all these and we try to maintain what He gives us by our own will power.
It wasn’t long ago when I sat in a bus with this Christian woman who supposedly wanted a kind of medicine or should I say a charm for her husband because He was a womanizer and wouldn’t stay at home. This woman looked very disturbed and according to her that had become her greatest headache.
She was trying to keep what God had given her and I just knew it was not going to work out.
For it is not in our power to keep what God has given us.
But rather we should be persuaded that God is able to keep that which we commit unto him against that day (2 Timothy 1:12).
Often time we are made to believe that nothing good comes easy; that is true; but the Christian Life is not a call to struggle for everything; Is call to absolute trust and rest.
So the psalmist puts it just right in Psalm 18:30 when He says;
As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him (Psalm 18:30).
Beloved; what burden are you carrying; perhaps you are carrying what God has been telling you to drop. The hymn writer puts it aptly when He says; what needless pain we bear; all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer; but sadly still some of us carry it to God in prayer and still carry the burden along.
This is a call to rest; for there remaineth a rest for the child of God; all things are yours; and all you have to do is trust. Because Rushing God would lead you walking through doors that He never wanted you to go through.
Trusting Him will however have you at peace knowing that you are His and that you are still favored before you receive any blessings.
When I use to worry and bother about an issue some time ago; God told me something profound; to climb to the peak and He shall meet my desires there. I bring you a message; is a call to rest in the one who has you engraved in His palms; He is the Lord Almighty and there is nothing too hard for Him.
Make you His Service your delight and He will make your wants His care.
Don’t carry that burden but rather delight yourself in the Lord and He will grant you the desires of your heart. This is the more excellent way.
Remember; He is that God that can do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, even according to the power that worketh in us (Ephesians 3:20).
