Unlocking His Voice; the benefit of waiting in His presence

The one activity that shuts up the world and opens up the heavens is that single act of waiting upon the Lord. There is nothing that brings more results than this one act of waiting which is a function of time spent in the secret place of the Lord.

Through your sacrifice of precious time, the Lord blesses you far more than you even dare to ask.

It is however sad that this spiritual discipline is not cherished by many christians. This griefs the heart of the Lord as He yearns for fellowship with His children.

A story is told of a man of God who went into the presence of the Lord to enquire about a matter. After several hours of praying and waiting upon the Lord, the Lord refused to speak to him, so he decided to end his long hour time in the presence of the Lord and leave.

However, the most amazing thing happened as he got ready to leave his place of prayer,

Your place of prayer can be your waiting room.

What was it? the answer came from the Lord. Out of surprise, he decided to ask the Lord why it had taken Him so long to deliver the answer. Hear the answer of the Lord;

I was enjoying your accompany and didn’t want you to leave.

I was marveled myself to hear this answer in the story but then again, this response reveals the heart of the Godhead for fellowship.

That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ (1 John 1:3 KJV).

Indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. The HolySpirit is not left out here, His fellowship is always with us because He lives in us.

I intend to make this article as brief as possible so I don’t dilute what the Lord wants me to say. So let’s go on, waiting on the Lord is simply spending some time alone with God, for the purpose of direction concerning a cause or the next phase of your life.

The temptation to go by the norm and follow your human instincts in making a decision is high and sometimes the very nature of our flesh as human beings even makes it more difficult.

But here is the truth;

wherever you see extraordinary results, there has been this principle of painstakingly waiting upon the Lord.

So now the question is, what makes this single spiritual act of discipline so difficult to the believer?? Probably because;

1. Is a discipline.

2. The nature of our flesh or the cravings of the human nature, makes it difficult to wait upon the Lord.

The flesh naturally fights “presence” and in this case even the presence of God. So what do you do when there seems to be some conflict or struggle inside yourself anytime you decide to take time off to seek God’s face.

Take notice;

Seeking God’s face is also waiting upon the Lord.

Anytime such conflicts arises, know that you are human and you have to consciously ignore it; not giving so much time to mind the weakness of your flesh and as you continue you will rise above the weakness of your flesh, because the Holy Spirit Himself helpeth our infirmities.

The Lord yearns to talk to us, He yearns to see our faces even before hearing our voices and in the secret place of the Lord, He gives you just that one word you will need for the next phase of your life.

This is a call to wait upon the Lord, “for you shall seek me and find me if you seek me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13 KJV).

In the waiting room of the Lord, He guides you continually, He satisfies your soul in drought, and makes fat your bones: you become like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not (Isaiah 58:11KJV).

Is time to wait upon the Lord; that is the secret in doing exploits in the coming year.

#the season of waiting.

  1. Very good post, thank you for sharing! Patience is most definitely a virtue, especially in this culture, and we need to really focus on the fact that God has an amazing plan for each and every one of us, and we just need to wait and see what that is.
